The final race on the card at Saratoga before the staging of the 2024 Belmont Stakes will be the G1 Manhattan Stakes. This race will be run over a distance of 1 3/16 miles at Saratoga on the turf, with horses aged four and older able to compete.

Before Betting On Manhattan Stakes

A stunning card of Grade One action is set for Saratoga this weekend, with one of the standout races on the turf being the G1 Manhattan Stakes. This Grade One will boast a purse of $1 million, and the field will compete over a distance of 1 3/16 miles. An international field has been assembled for the contest, with runners from Britain and Ireland lining up against U.S.-trained runners.

However, Chad Brown could have the favorite for the race this weekend in the form of Program Trading. The four-year-old made a stunning return to form after a 154-day break to narrowly claim victory from Naval Power in the G1 Turf Classic Stakes. He has won three from four starts in stakes company.

Charlie Appleby has two runners in the race this weekend, including Nations Pride, who will be the ride of Frankie Dettori. This runner was last seen finishing third of nine in the G2 Man O War Stakes, and it can’t be overlooked that William Buick has opted to ride the other Godolphin runner.

Measured Time looks to be Appleby’s best chance in the race this weekend after winning on two occasions on his international travels after winning in stakes company in the United Kingdom. His fourth behind Facteur Cheval from the G1 Dubai Turf could be the standout form line this weekend. I’m Very Busy also commands respect for the Brown yard.

A very competitive Manhattan Stakes is set for this weekend, with the top six in the betting all holding interesting claims. However, Al Riffa could be the forgotten horse in this field for Joseph O’Brien. The four-year-old finished fourth in a French Group One on his return to action, and was seen to best effect last seen when just under a length behind subsequent Arc winner Ace Impact.
