Before Betting on Mariners vs A’s June 22
The Seattle Mariners have found that a visit to their AL West foes the Oakland A’s is good for what ails you. The M’s had been mired in a stretch of five losses in their previous six games before erupting for an 8-2 win in Tuesday’s series opener, cashing in on the -128 offshore odds.
Seattle is favored again on Wednesday night, and why wouldn’t they be as the A’s are 3-16 over their last 19 games. The Mariners’ recent 3-8 stretch all came at home, but Tuesday’s win at RingCentral Coliseum was their fourth road victory in their last five away from T-Mobile Park. Oakland has one of the worst 2-3 offenses in baseball giving opponents the pitching edge nearly every night.
Seattle rookie pitcher George Kirby (1-2, 3.56 ERA) will try to take full advantage of exploiting the home team in the Mariners vs A’s June 22 matchup. The right-hander is making his 9th career start, but already the 2nd vs. Oakland after he allowed 4ER over 5.0 IP in a 7-5 A’s win on May 24th.
Oakland counters with Paul Blackburn (6-2, 2.26 ERA). The A’s have 23 wins all season, and 9 of those have come when Blackburn has gotten the start. He’s allowed just 1 ER in his last two starts – but those were both road games. The right-hander has given up 8ER over 10.2 IP in his last two home outings.

It seems like you can only bet on Oakland about once a week, and that’s when Blackburn is on the hill. The Mariners looked good on Tuesday night, but this is also a team that has been very bad as of late. The fact that the offshore odds haven’t gone up that much despite Seattle’s comfortable 8-2 victory in the series opener would give a lean towards the A’s here.
