The MLB season continues to heat up as the summer months progress. This series features a matchup between two 1st-placed teams, the Seattle Mariners (43-31) and the Cleveland Guardians (44-25). Both teams have played excellent baseball this season, especially as of late. They’ll be looking to add to that success here.

Before Betting on Mariners vs Guardians

The Mariners have opened a 9-game lead over the rest of the AL West division, after going 16-5 in their last 21 games. That stretch included series wins over all four division rivals. Seattle went 2-1 against the Athletics, 3-1 against the Astros, and 3-0 against the Angels and Rangers. While the Mariners have been dominant lately, they also played many of those games at home. Seattle is 13-2 in their last 15 home games, but only 7-8 in their last 15 road games. They hold a 27-12 record at home and 16-19 record on the road for the season as a whole.

Like Seattle, Cleveland has an excellent record at home this season. They’ve gone 21-8 inside of Progressive Field, and return home for this series after a 9-game road trip. The Guardians went 4-5 during that trip, and will undoubtedly be looking to get back on track against the Mariners. Cleveland holds the 4th best record in all of Major League Baseball, aided primariely by a top-10 offense and top-5 pitching rotation. The rotation is especially impressive considering the absence of injured ace Shane Bieber.

Mariners vs Guardians Offshore Odds

Game ResultOdds
Mariners win+105
Guardians win-120

This series should be somewhat unpredictable considering how capable each team is. That being said, these two teams hold the largest discrepencies in home record vs road record in the entire MLB. Seattle’s win percentage drops from 70% to 45% on the road, while Cleveland’s win percentage rises from 57.5% to 72.5% at home. I don’t expect the Guardians to sweep the Mariners in the series, but being at home should be the key advantage in winning two out of three games.
