The NBA postseason is approaching its end with the Celtics leading the Mavericks 3-1 in the Finals. Dallas avoided the embarrasment of a sweep on Friday, flipping the tables on Boston en route to a 38-point victory. The Mavs will be aiming to keep up their momentum as they attempt to pull off an improbable reverse sweep.
Before Betting on Mavericks vs Celtics
The Mavericks survived the worst-case scenario in Game 4 on Friday, avoiding getting swept by the Celtics. Not only did they get a much-needed victory, but Dallas also did so in dominant fashion. They defeated Boston by nearly 40 points, while looking like a completely different team from the first three games. Unfortunately, the Mavs are still in quite a hole, and need to pull off three more similar victories to avoid elimination. Game 5 in Boston is absolutely crucial with Game 6 in Dallas on deck.
Boston was unable to become the first team to sweep an NBA Finals since the Warriors in 2018, losing by 38 points in a jarring Game 4 defeat. On one hand, Boston’s dominance over Dallas on the series would indicate that their blowout loss on Friday was more of a fluke. On the other, the Celtics are adjusting to the loss of Kristaps Porzingis, who had certainy made an impact in his return. Without Porzingis, the Celtics are more vulnerable, but they should still be heavy favorites to win Game 5 at home.
Mavericks vs Celtics Offshore Odds
Boston was largely expected to lead the series by Game 5. A good number of predictions had them going 2-0 at home and 1-1 on the road in the first four games, including our prediction. That makes the pivot point of this series Game 5. If the Celtics win as expected, the series will end as Boston’s first championship since 2008 and a gentleman’s sweep. On the other hand, a Dallas victory could pave the way for a home win in Game 6 and a free-for-all in Game 7. Boston needs to find a way to replace Porzingis’ production.
