The Kings did a lot of things well on Sunday, but they still come back to Edmonton down 3-1 in their first round series with the Oilers. Los Angeles only gave up 13 shots on goal in Game 4, but they had a second consecutive poor offensive showing in suffering the 1-0 defeat. The Oilers can punch their ticket to the conference semifinals with a win on Wednesday, but they did split the first two games of this series on their own ice.

Before Betting on May 1 Kings vs Oilers

It’s been a tale of two offenses for the Kings in this series, who scored 9 total goals in the two games at Edmonton (4-7 L, 5-4 W) but they found the back of the net just once on 61 shots in the two contests back at home.

Aside from their offensive questions, Los Angeles also switched up their goaltenders on Sunday after Cam Talbot surrendered 6 goals in Game 3 – albeit on 40 shots. David Rittich only faced 13 shots in Game 4 and the one goal he did give up was on the power play so it will be interesting to see who Jim Hiller goes with in net for Game 5.

While it’s hard to tell who will be in net for the Kings on Wednesday, Stuart Skinner has turned his series around for the Oilers. Skinner seemingly lost all his confidence to start the series while allowing 9 goals total in Games 1 and 2, but he’s bounced back to stop 60 of the last 61 L.A. shots the last two games.

May 1 Kings vs Oilers Prediction & Pick

L.A. should come out with a vengeance considering the Oilers have eliminated them in the first round playoffs in each of the last two seasons. That being said, the Kings have shown little to no offense the last two games and are in trouble heading back to Edmonton where the Oilers were 28-9-4 during the regular season.

Pick: Oilers -1.5
