The AL Central is full of streaky teams and two of them continue their series in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. The Royals had won eight in a row, but now have dropped three straight after Tuesday’s 4-2 loss to Minnesota and a 6-5 defeat in the series opener. The Twins have now won six of their last seven but are still 3GB from Kansas City for second place in the division.

Kansas City scored 4 runs in the 9th inning in Monday’s loss but fell short 6-5, otherwise counting a 4-2 victory on Tuesday it’s been a couple nice hard-fought wins for the Twins. Minnesota took two of three from the Royals in the opening series of the season, so they are now 4-1 vs. their division rivals on the year.
KC has a great chance to stop their skid with Seth Lugo up in the rotation. The 34-year-old is having a career resurgence by ranking 2nd in MLB with an 8-1 record while leading the league with a 1.74 ERA. Kansas City has gone 4-1 in his five starts this month while Lugo has posted a 1.83 ERA and the Royals starter has only allowed more than 2 ER once this season.
Minnesota only managed 2 hits against Lugo over 6.0 IP back on March 30 so they do have their work cut out for them on Wednesday night. Jose Miranda has had a good series at the plate knocking in four of the Twins’ 10 runs so far but Manuel Margot needs to step up in Game 3 as he’s 5 for 6 (.833) in his career vs. the Kansas City starter. Bailey Ober (5-2, 4.33 ERA) starts for the Twins hoping for a better performance vs. the Royals than his 8ER allowed in 1.1 IP on March 31.

Ober does throw much better at home with a 2.57 ERA compared to 5.52 on the road. That being said, Lugo is pitching superbly no matter where he takes the mound and the fact you can get him with the Royals at plus money is value that needs to be taken.
