Before Betting on Maycee Barber vs. Rose Namajunas UFC Denver Fight
The UFC is coming back to its roots on July 13 with an event held in Denver, the city where UFC 1 took place back in 1993. For the homecoming, Dana White & Co. came up with an interesting fight card, which is headlined by the women’s flyweight fight between Maycee Barber and Rose Namajunas.
Based on the Barber vs. Namajunas odds, the UFC Denver headliner is going to be a real banger. How can it not? After all, the winner of this fight is likely to get a shot at the title in the future.
Speaking of titles, Rose Namajunas is a former champ, although not in the 125 division. Instead, she used to rule the UFC Women’s Strawweight division in two stints from 2017 until 2023 when she decided to move up a weight class.
Her flyweight debut saw her get steamrolled by Manon Fiorot, who’s a natural flyweight. She’s big and powerful, same as Rose’s next opponent, Maycee Barber (14-2). Barber has only lost to Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi in her prime, and is 6-0 since those two losses.
One thing that’s giving Namajunas hope, however, is that she won against Amanda Ribas last March. However, neither fighter looked great in that fight. Rose hit Ribas in the head a couple of times, but her strikes gave impression as if they were slo-mo – Ribas just shrugged them off each time.
It’s kind of weird that Rose failed to do much damage as Ribas is a small flyweight who really should be fighting in the 115lb division.

You would think that such a legendary fighter as Namajunas would have an advantage over Barber, but we don’t think that is the case. Rose’s skills have diminished since she put her husband Pat Berry in charge of her training. We just don’t think a former heavyweight can be a good coach for a 125lb female fighter.
