The Toronto-based digital media company, theScore Inc., has announced plans to launch a new sportsbook app for New Jersey bettors in the near future.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has already approved the operator’s license, and the firm has confirmed that it will begin operations soon. The rollout will start with a mandatory soft launch as required by the state regulator, and, if all goes well, the platform will launch officially before the start of the football season.

TheScore sportsbook will enter the booming Garden State market through a Monmouth Park license. Monmouth is also the official licensing partner of Rust Street Interactive-operated SugarHouse Online Sportsbook NJ as well as William Hill NJ.

The mobile betting app will run on Bet.Works software.

Operator Says They’re Ready To Take On NJ

The famed media and tech company is aware of the stiff competition in the ever-expanding New Jersey market, but the operator is confident that their existing platform will play to their advantage

TheScore will join 13 other legal online sports betting platforms operating in the state. Some of the existing apps include FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook, William Hill NJ, PointsBet, and BetStars NJ.

The firm launched theScore.com website and app in 2007 to provide sports enthusiasts with current news and scores across popular sports and leagues. Today, the app boasts a solid fanbase with more than four million active users on its app and about 50 million fans on its social media platforms.

According to the company’s Founder and CEO, John Levy, a majority of these users reside in the US, and theScore is banking on these numbers to succeed in the competitive market.

Levy’s son and COO of theScore, Benjie Levy, promised that the company’s offering will be competitive in terms of both innovation and key sportsbook offering.

The two executives have stated that theScore betting app will focus on providing its users with the best experience in sports. Besides the wagering platform, the app will give bettors live data and all the information they need to place informed wagers, making it a one-stop app for all things sports betting.

Expansion Plans

The firm has said that the Garden State is just the entry point of their US sports betting venture. After the New Jersey launch, theScore will begin on rolling out online sportsbooks in other regulated jurisdictions across the country.

The company signed a multi-state sports betting partnership deal with Penn National Gaming Inc. in late July. The agreement, which runs for 20 years, opens theScore up to 11 states where Penn National operates casinos and racetracks.

Under the deal, theScore will get first-skin access rights to launch mobile sportsbooks at Penn National properties in Louisiana and Mississippi. In Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Missouri, the company will be entitled to second-skin access rights, and third-skin rights in Maine, Kansas, Michigan, and Massachusetts.

In exchange, Penn National will benefit from an upfront market access fee and an equity stake in theScore.
