Before Betting On Men’s Olympic Basketball

An illustrious prize will be on offer in the sport of basketball this summer, as the gold medal at the Olympics will be up for grabs. The men’s competition has been staged at the world-famous event since 1936, with the women’s action added from the 1976 Games. The U.S. has been the most successful nation in the history of the Olympics.

Overall, Team USA have won the men’s gold medal in basketball on 16 occasions, which includes seven straight titles between 1936 and 1968. In fact, the U.S. team has never finished outside of the top three positions throughout Olympic history.

That dominance has continued in recent editions of the Olympics after winning the gold medal in each of the last four. In Tokyo, a youthful American side eventually managed to capture a 17th title after beating France 87-82. In truth, the U.S. should have few issues in making it through to the quarterfinals after being drawn in Group C alongside Serbia and South Sudan.

France will have the home court experience in Paris this summer, and there will be hopes that they can go one better than they managed in Japan. The French will need to overcome Germany and Japan in Group B to make it through to the knockout round. Spain is also hard to overlook after winning silver in two and bronze in one of the last four editions.
