The side for Saturday’s Mets vs Rockies matchup has New York as a pretty significant favorite, but it’s the total of 11 that is really interesting. You’ve got the Coors Field effect that is always beneficial to hitters, but at the same time the Mets send Justin Verlander (2-2, 3.60 ERA) which would give credence to a low scoring game.
Before Betting on Mets vs Rockies
Colorado is playing without one of their best hitters with C.J. Cron on the IL with back spasms and they don’t get the best pitching draw this weekend, having to face Max Scherzer on Friday night and Verlander on Saturday – a couple of pitchers with six combined Cy Young Awards to their name.
Scherzer pitched well in the Denver atmosphere in the series opener, giving up just 1 ER over 7.0 IP as the Mets picked up a 5-2 win in a game that had an 11.5 O/U. Colorado did get HRs from Charlie Blackmon and Ryan McMahon, but those two solo shots accounted for their only runs of the night.
One could expect a similar outing from Verlander in game two of the series as Scherzer had on Friday night. Verlander had a rough showing against Tampa Bay on May 16th (6ER over 5.0 IP) but otherwise has allowed 2 ER or less in his three other starts this month.
Colorado goes with Chase Anderson (0-0, 1.15 ERA) on the mound Saturday night for his third start with the club after being claimed from the Rays. Anderson has allowed just 2 ER over his first 10.2 IP with the Rockies – and both games were at Coors Field which makes the performances even more impressive.

Mets vs Rockies Prediction & Pick
Just like Scherzer pitching with an 11.5 O/U on Friday, if you see Verlander with an 11 O/U you have to take it. Sure crazy things can happen in hitter-friendly Coors Field, but you take those chances.
