Week 9 of the NFL season wraps up with the 5-3 Baltimore Ravens visiting the 3-5 New Orleans Saints. Those are conflicting records, but the Ravens are just slight favorites on the road on Monday night. At first glance this game looks like it could be a defensive struggle (O/U 46.5) with Baltimore getting some new additions to their unit ahead of the Ravens vs Saints matchup and New Orleans coming off a 24-0 shutout of the Raiders last week.

Baltimore traded for Chicago LB Roquan Smith this week, trying to bolster a defense that is 23rd in the NFL in total yards allowed (364.3). Perhaps they should have traded for a lockdown corner instead, because where the Ravens really struggle is vs. the pass (266.8 ypg, 28th in the NFL).
Baltimore being somewhat vulnerable against the pass is a nice matchup for the Saints, with QB Andy Dalton completing 22/30 passes vs. Las Vegas with 2 TDs and throwing for 361 yards and 4 TDs the game prior vs. Arizona. The most important stat line Dalton put up last week is 0 – as in interceptions after he threw 3 vs. the Cardinals.
The Saints shutting out Las Vegas last week really says more about the Raiders than it does a New Orleans team that ranks 27th in the NFL giving up 25.0 ppg. The Saints had allowed 30+ points in three straight before last week so Baltimore’s offense should be able to chunk together some scoring here. The Ravens biggest issue however is injuries, with TE Mark Andrews out (shoulder), and Rashod Bateman being lost for the season with a foot injury.
