The first Monday Night Football this season is at Levi’s Stadium, where the 49ers host Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. These two teams are Super Bowl contenders, though we don’t quite know whether that is realistic for the Jets, who have to prove their worth.
Before Betting on the Jets vs. 49ers Week 1 Monday Night Football
Aaron Rodgers is back on the field after quite a pause. And in his return, he’s going to face the reason for that pause – Leonard Floyd, the guy who sacked and injured him. The Jets had a solid core upon AR’s arrival to the Big Apple, but that’s not the situation now.
Garrett Willson is Rodgers’s only reliable receiver, but even so, if he shows a bit of his passing magic, it’s going to be quite enough for NY to do damage. Mike Williams is an enigma, and if he turns out right, the Jets have some chances.
San Francisco is stacked in all positions, and we have to say that Kyle Shanahan’s unit seems a bit cursed when it comes to winning the Super Bowl. Somehow, they always fall one step short of the Chiefs or in some other playoff event, usually due to bad luck. They could be the modern Jim Kelly’s Buffalo Bills, hm?
Even though the defense looks a bit lighter than last season, when it had Chase Young and Arik Armstead, this unit can still be very, very powerful. It’s composed of players who have plenty of games under their belts.
Jets vs. 49ers Head to Head
The 49ers have a convincing lead in the all-time series, winning 11 of 14 events. The last game was in 2020, when San Francisco stomped the Jets at MetLife, 31-13.
Jets vs. 49ers Week 1 Monday Night Football Odds & Picks
Team | Moneyline | Spread | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Jets | +165 | +3.5 | 44.5 |
49ers | -195 | -3.5 | 44.5 |
Our pick here is San Francisco with a spread, because this team is far better than the Jets, who have Rodgers, but not in his prime, or at least his average, yet in decline, plus rusty. More NFL picks are available at the link.
