The round of 16 in the World Cup finally gets underway over the weekend, with the final two ties to determine the final eight in the competition to be played on Tuesday. The first of the games on the final day of round of 16 action will see Spain clash with Morocco.
Before Betting On Morocco vs Spain
Few groups had as much excitement in their final rounds of fixtures than Groups E and F. However, it was eventually Spain that needed to settle for second in the standings in Group E, and their unbeaten start at the competition came to a screeching halt against Japan. It was another memorable shock in the World Cup this year, as Spain looked to be cruising at half time with a 1-0 lead.
However, they started the second half poorly, and quickly found themselves 2-1 down. For a brief moment, things could have been even worse for the Spanish, as Costa Rica did go ahead against Germany, which could have left both European heavyweights exiting the competition. Fortunately for the Spanish, Germany went on to win the game, but they still were beaten by Japan which eliminated the Germans.
Morocco pulled off one of the big shocks in the World Cup themselves, as they managed to top a Group F, which also contained Belgium and Croatia. It was the Africa nation’s win over Belgium that would prove crucial, as that put them on course to top the standings. Morocco has been excellent in the competition to this point, as they have gone three without defeat, and have conceded just one goal.
However, the African nation has never beaten Spain in three previous attempts. The most recent match between the sides came at the 2018 World Cup, as the nations played out a 2-2 draw.

This will be a memorable match for Morocco, as they look to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in their history. They have already proven that they have what it takes to stand up to the European heavyweights, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see extra time required on Tuesday. However, we could still see the Spanish sneaking through.
