Action on the NASCAR Cup Series is heating up at this stage of the campaign, as the battle for playoff positions is reaching breaking point. The Great American Getaway 400 is the 21st race on the schedule, and there will be just five races remaining on the regular calendar following this Sunday’s contest at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.

This race has been known by a number of different names throughout its history, with the first NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono taking place back in 1974. A total distance of 400 miles will be covered by the field this weekend, with a total of 160 laps being completed. The first stage will see 30 laps being competed, before each of the final two stages will see 65 laps apiece.

Denny Hamlin boasts an excellent recent record in the race, having won three of the last five editions, which includes a success in the race last year. Toyota has been the winning manufacturer in all but one of the races since 2017. Hamlin could boast strong claims to win the race once again, as he chases a fourth victory of the season.

Kyle Larson remains the leader in the Drivers’ Championship, despite finishing down in 39th in the Great Park 165 last weekend. The biggest winner last weekend was Tyler Reddick, who finished second in the street race in Chicago to close the gap on the top two in the standings.
