One of the other games on tap from Monday night’s NBA slate features the Cleveland Cavaliers hosting the Phoenix Suns. Will the home team prevail in our Cavaliers vs Suns prediction?

Cavaliers Looking To Build On Win Over Timberwolves

After getting trounced 134-114 by the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Cavaliers enter this matchup on the heels of a 124-117 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Five players reached double figures, including three from the starting unit. Donovan Mitchell scored a team-high 36 points with eight rebounds and seven assists. Darius Garland finished with 29 points, six assists, and five rebounds while knocking down five of his 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

Georges Niang and Ty Jerome scored 15 points each off the bench. Jarett Allen chipped in with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. The teams played to a 60-60 stalemate in the first half. However, the Cavaliers came out with a sense of urgency after the break. They outscored Minnesota by a 29-19 margin in the third quarter. With the victory, the Cavaliers avoided what would have been their second two-game losing skid of the season.

Suns Seeking Third Three-Game Winning Streak

After a 122-117 setback against the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 14, the Suns have responded with two consecutive victories. They defeated the Washington Wizards 130-123 on Thursday night. Two days later, they outlasted the Detroit Pistons 125-121.

Kevin Durant and Devin Booker were absolute studs in this game. Durant paced the team’s offense with 36 points on 13-for-27 shooting from the floor. He also tallied seven rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and two steals. Meanwhile, Booker added 35 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Nick Richards scored 21 points off the bench in his Suns debut. Ryan Dunn contributed 12 points and eight rebounds. In a back-and-forth battle between these teams, it came down to the waning moments of the contest. With the Suns clinging to a two-point lead, Durant nailed a jumper to give the road team a four-point advantage with 1:05 left in regulation.

Cavaliers vs Suns Prediction: Cleveland Comes Out On Top

The Cavaliers have the second-highest scoring average in the NBA. They also have the top offense from an efficiency standpoint. Furthermore, Cleveland has produced eight wins in its last 10 outings. Conversely, the Suns are in the bottom third in scoring defense and defensive efficiency. The good news is they have the ninth-best offensive rating in the association. Also, this group has won five of its previous six games following a 16-19 start.

The Cavaliers have been the favorites 37 times this season, winning 33 of those games. Phoenix has been the underdog 16 times and has won only four times. With that in mind, look for the Cavaliers to get another “W” on their home court.
