Clippers vs Jazz Preview
Jazz Continue To Build Momentum
The Utah Jazz have been one of the standout teams in the west throughout the season, and they have continued to build momentum throughout the playoffs so far. They eased past their opening round matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies, as they came back from a game down to beat the Grizzlies 4-1 in five games. Utah looked unlike themselves in the first game of the series, but hit back by scoring at least 120 points in each of the following four games.
They wrapped up the series with a comfortable 126-110 victory in Utah last Thursday. Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points in the win, while Rudy Gobert and Jordan Clarkson scored respective totals of 23 and 24. The Jazz dominated from the field and three-point range, as they averaged 51.6% and 38.6% respectively. They also missed just one attempt from the free-throw line.
Clippers Edge Past Mavericks
The Los Angeles Clippers didn’t have it all their own way in their first round match-up against the Dallas Mavericks. The Clippers became only the fifth team in NBA history to lose both of their first two home games to come back to win the series in game seven. There is no denying that the Clippers have the required quality on their roster to have a deep run in the playoffs this season, but they will not get aware with making such a slow start again against the team that won the most regular season games in the NBA.
The Clippers sealed a game seven victory against the Mavericks by winning 126-111 on Sunday evening. Kawhi Leonard proved his worth for the Clippers in that win, as he scored 18 points. Meanwhile, Paul George also chipped in with 22, while Marcus Morris Sr scored 23 points. The Clippers were effective from the free-throw line, but will need to be more consistent from beyond the arc in this series, as they scored on just 20 from 43 attempts on Sunday.
Clippers vs Jazz Prediction
This series has all the ingredients to be one of the most interesting in the NBA this season. It would be hard to oppose the Jazz getting through over seven games, and they should make home advantage count in the opening game of the series on Tuesday evening.
