New York City FC and Charlotte clash on Wednesday, in the only MLS game of the night. These two East Conference rivals have the same number of points and are barely outside the playoff and the play-in zone. So this matchup isn’t worth three but six points because they are direct rivals for the postseason.

Before Betting on New York City FC vs. Charlotte

The Citizens haven’t lost in the previous six games, but until last weekend’s victory on the road in Montreal, they had astonishing five ties in a row. We have to admit that doesn’t happen often in the MLS. NYC’s games are inefficient, and during this defeatless streak, only one contest saw three or more goals.

City is solid at home overall, having four wins, three ties, and two losses with a goal difference of 13-12. However, the Citizens haven’t triumphed in Big Apple for the last four games, having two losses and two ties. They kept a clean sheet only on two occasions in the recent ten contests at the Yankee Stadium.

On the other side is Charlotte, a team without a victory over the past five clashes and only one triumph in the most recent eight appearances. The franchise from North Carolina knows to produce very efficient events, and three of the previous four have been with at least four hits on both ends.

In ten MLS road games, this team won three times, and had two draws and five defeats. So all in all, they too aren’t dangerous when not playing at home.

City isn’t losing but isn’t winning either, and if there is a good chance to record back-to-back victories (which they didn’t do for a long time), it would be against mediocre visitors from Charlotte. That’s why our money is on NYC.
