Our New York City FC vs. Nashville SC prediction might surprise you. Even though the New Yorkers are on a 2-win streak and Nashville lost their last two MLS games, we don’t think NYCFC will win on Sunday.

NYCFC are Great at Home, Nashville are Horrible on the Road
NYCFC boasts an incredible home record with 30 points collected from 16 games at Yankee Stadium in the 2024 MLS. Actually, the only team with a better home record this season is Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
Meanwhile, Nashville SC have had a rough time on the road in 2024. In fact, they are second from the bottom when away games are concerned. Plus, they’re 1-0-5 in their last six MLS games on the road.
All this could make you think that our NYCFC vs. Nashville prediction would be a win for the hosts. However, we don’t think that will happen, the reason being that the October 6 game is of tiny importance for them.
Neither Team Has Much to Play for This Coming Sunday
Nashville is on the ropes with two consecutive MLS losses, which practically cost them a place in the postseason. They do still have a theoretical chance to get there, but we’d bet everything that they won’t pull it off.
New York City FC, on the other hand, have secured their place in the 2024 MLS playoffs a while ago. They’re 5th in the Eastern Conference, and no matter what happens in the remaining two rounds of the regular season, they just can’t drop lower than the 7th place. In the best-case scenario, the boys from the Big Apple would finish 4th.
New York City FC vs. Nashville SC Prediction
NYCFC’s players have been in top form lately, but they deserve a break. They need to get some rest in order to get themselves ready for the postseason, which is why we don’t expect them to play their best soccer on Sunday. We also don’t expect much from Nashville, but they could definitely win themselves a point.
