Huge action in the Premier League takes place following the international break at St. James’ Park on Saturday, as Newcastle bid to get back on track when they host an improving Chelsea. But, which side will land maximum points this weekend?

Before Betting On Newcastle vs Chelsea

An interesting showdown in the Premier League will take place this weekend, as Newcastle look for an immediate response when they return to action against Chelsea. The Magpies currently sit seventh in the league standings, but they have already lost four of their 12 league matches this term. However, a return to winning ways could leave them within three points of the Champions League spots.

Newcastle have won two of their previous four, but they come into the resumption following a recent defeat against Bournemouth. The Magpies were well below their best in that fixture, as they failed to create much by the way of clear scoring opportunities. They will at least need to defend better when they come up against the Blues this weekend.

Things are starting to look up for Chelsea at this stage of the season, as they have gone two without a loss in the Premier League. Huge confidence would have been taken from their recent performance against Man City, as Cole Palmer scored a dramatic penalty to secure a 4-4 draw. That point came after a 4-1 success on the road against Tottenham.

However, the Blues have still just won four of their 12 Premier League matches this term, and they have already allowed 16 goals across their outings this term. But, there is clear evidence to suggest that Mauricio Pochettino’s plans are starting to work at the club, as they have looked much better at both ends of the field in their previous two matches.
