Newcastle has a grudge against Liverpool because the Reds have been one of the rare teams who beat the Magpies twice during the previous season. So, they want revenge this Sunday.

Before Betting on Newcastle vs. Liverpool

Newcastle lost the previous match against Machester City at the Etihad, 1-0. The Magpies fans hoped that their favorites might make some surprise because Guardiola’s unit lacked Kevin De Bruyne, yet they weren’t competitive against the English and the European champs.

Eddie Howe and the crew were powerful in the opening round against Aston Villa, whom they beat 5-1. During the US tour, Newcastle was extremely efficient, scoring plenty of goals and looking much more lethal than in the 2022/23 campaign. For those who forgot, Howe played like this with Bournemouth, displaying one highly attractive football back in the days.

Liverpool is always lethal, and the Reds have proven that throughout recent years. But what prevents them from winning titles and trophies is a very unstable defense. That’s odd to hear, given the fact that guys like Van Dijk, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, and others feature in their backline.

Though, that’s been the biggest problem for Jurgen Klopp, who simply can’t bring back the stability in the back line from two, three years ago. The positive thing is that the attack works perfectly, using its chances and rarely underachieving. Salah is still at the highest possible level while all the other forwards follow the Egyptian and add their contribution.

Both teams are very gifted in the attack, with fantastic individual quality and good chemistry as well. Their respective defenses aren’t at the same level, and overall, these units appear to emphasize an offensive-minded style of play than something else. That’s why we pick both teams to score for Sunday’s derby, as anything else isn’t too sure.
