The big game in the Premier League this weekend comes from St James’ Park, as Newcastle United look to get back into form to enhance their chances of finishing in a Champions League spot. Liverpool will be the visitors this weekend, as they look for a second straight win.

Before Betting On Newcastle vs Liverpool

This could be a huge game in the Premier League for Newcastle this weekend in the context of their season. The Magpies have been held to draws in four of their last five matches, and they have slipped to fourth in the standings. They now sit just two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the standings, meaning that they could drop out of the Champions League spots this weekend.

Newcastle has still lost only once this term, but that defeat did come against Liverpool earlier in the campaign. In fact, the Toon are winless in their previous 12 Premier League clashes against Liverpool, with their most recent victory coming back in December 2015. However, this will be the first time that Newcastle come into a fixture against Liverpool with the Toon sitting five places ahead of the Reds since September 2006.

Liverpool finally registered a first league win of 2023 in their most recent fixture, as they landed a 2-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton. However, that has done little to suggest that they could challenge for a place in the Champions League spots in the second half of the Premier League season.

The Reds do come into this game with a very dominant record against the Magpies though. They have also avoided defeat in each of their previous five visits to St James’ Park, winning three times over that period. However, they have never gone six with defeat in the North East throughout the history of the league.

This looks set to be an important game in the Premier League for both sides. However, Liverpool’s recent performances have improved, and their dominant record against Newcastle means that we will be siding with them on Saturday.
