The growth of the internet has seen more graphic sexual images become available more easily. Nowadays, pornographic images and videos can be found extremely easily, and that is leading to a clamp down in a number of states within the U.S. But, which state will be the next to ban PornHub?
Before Betting On Next State To Ban PornHub
There are a growing number of states that are taking more drastic measures to block the viewing of pornographic images within the U.S., with Texas becoming the latest state to bring in new laws requiring that age verification is required to watch videos on the site. In turn, PornHub responded by blocking access in most states that have brought in these stricter regulations.
A number of other states look set to follow Texas in bringing in new measures, with Florida likely to be among the first. It was recently announced that a bill requiring age verification had been approved, and it could be signed by Ron DeSantis leading to the law coming into effect at the start of the next calendar year.
PornHub remains the most popular site in its sector, with the website being launched in May 2007 by Matt Keezer. The popularity of the site can be found in the fact that by 2009 it was reported that PornHub, YouPorn, and Red Tube all collectively had over 100 million unique visitors.
However, the site has come under fire in recent years, with the New York Times reporting that the site had been hosting incidents including revenge, child pornography, and rape.
Site bosses have been condemned for their slow approach to responding to these incidents, with many videos staying on the platform. The website once again came under fire for a range of negative reasons in Netflix’s Money Shot: The Pornhub Story, which was released on the streaming site in 2023.
