With the European transfer window closed there was no deal for Neymar and he will now have to face the music with PSG fans.

Neymar Transfer Saga One of the Strangest Ever

In the end, PSG did not sell Neymar to Barcelona. The reasons as to why depend on who you ask but the club from the French capital were not willing to budge on their asking price. As for Barcelona, they were very much willing but unable to match PSG’s asking price. They tried to use players to sweeten the deal but PSG did not bite.

So now Neymar must play for fans that don’t particularly like him very much at the moment. They held banners and sang songs calling him some of the nastiest names in the book. Just because he is staying doesn’t mean they are forced to support him. They are perfectly capable of winning League 1 without the Brazilian superstar.

Neymar Can Save Himself in the Champions League

There is only one road to redemption in Paris for Neymar and it leads to the Champions League trophy. If Neymar can help guide this team to the only trophy they care about, surely all will be forgiven. It’s the reason he was brought to the club and he has failed spectacularly to deliver. Some of it isn’t his fault having suffered season ending injuries in the last two seasons.

Even when fit, he hasn’t exactly lit up the competition the way PSG fans would have hoped when Neymar arrived from Barcelona. After all is said and done, he needs to get back to the player he once was. The world has not seen the best version of Neymar for almost two years now and it’s getting worrying. He came to Paris to win the Ballon D’Or and to get out of Messi’s shadow. If he leads this team to Champions League glory, all of that is still possible as unlikely as it may seem at the moment.

What’s Neymar’s Next Move?

This entire situation seems to be out of his control. Unless PSG lower their asking price, Neymar isn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future. He seems to have all but given up hope that anything can be done before next summer which is logical. If Barcelona don’t have the money now, they won’t have it in January either.

With that in mind we also can’t assume Neymar has had a sudden change of heart. He wants out of Paris, the sooner the better. There have been rumors that he will seek the help of FIFA to assist with lowering his buyout clause. That’s a reach and would only serve to further alienate him from fans.

Neymar Has a Lot Work to Do

At the moment he is away with the Brazilian national team which must be a relief for Neymar. With Brazil he can play freely and avoid the media storm that is sure to follow him all over Europe. As long as he has world class skill, which he still does, Neymar will have the opportunity to write his own story on the field. As for where he plays, for now, he is powerless.
