The top two seeds in the NFC meet up to kick off Championship Sunday as the San Francisco 49ers (15-4) visit the Philadelphia Eagles (15-3). The Eagles have a couple things working for them in this matchup, first being at home where they were 8-2 this season and also having the more experienced QB as the Niners once again lean on rookie Brock Purdy.
Before Betting on 49ers vs Eagles
Purdy was the absolute last player picked in the 2022 NFL draft, and he’s become just the third rookie to win his first two playoff starts. San Francisco overall has won 12 straight, but one thing to note about their 41-23 victory over Seattle in the wild card round and beating Dallas 19-12 last weekend was that both of those games were at home. Lincoln Financial Field is going to be a hostile environment for NFC Championship Game betting.
The good thing for Purdy is that he has plenty of weapons in the form of Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and others and also has the NFL’s #1 defense (300.6 ypg, 16.3 ppg) on his side. That being said he’s also up against the league’s #2 ranked defensive unit (301.5 ypg).
Purdy getting all the attention on the other side of the field has taken a bit of the pressure off Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who picked up his first postseason win with a 38-7 demolishing of the Giants in the divisional round. The Eagles ran for 268 yards against New York, but things are expected to be a bit more difficult against San Francisco’s #2 ranked rushing defense that allowed just 77.7 ypg on the ground this season.
