Patriots visit one of the Super Bowl contenders opening their first season without Bill Belichick after some three decades of his reign in Foxborough. Meanwhile, with or without Belichick against them, the Bengals’ goal would be the same in this event – to win.

Before Betting on Patriots vs. Bengals

Pats have been busy this summer. They’ve picked Jerod Mayo to replace Belichick and then drafted QB Drake Maye in the first round, deciding to make radical changes in all areas. Specifically in offense, where they landed a few rookies, and also got RB Antonio Gibson.

Regarding the defense, the Pats didn’t want to ruin Belichick’s legacy. If Mac Jones hadn’t been such a bust, the Patriots could have been much better the previous year because the defense played excellent football – they were fifth in points allowed per drive.

All that’s important for the Bengals is Joe Burrow’s health. Because with him on the field, anything is possible for Cinci. Though, the fans are already questioning his ability to stay healthy, with him suffering three major blows in the past three years.

They lost WR Tyler Boyd and RB Joe Mixon this summer and were on the verge of staying without WR Ja’Marr Chase, who was willing to sit out and miss the training camp and games because of his contract extension. Fortunately for the Bengals fans, he’s back and in the combination for the game.

Patriots vs. Bengals Head to Head

Pats have an edge in the all-time series record, 17-10, but the previous game saw the Bengals winning at the Gillette Stadium, 22-18. That was in 2022.

New England’s defense is good, but against Burrow and the boys in Cincinnati, we wouldn’t bet on them. Also, the Pats have problems with QB Jacoby Brissett, who is injured and was supposed to start this one. Even if he does, Brissett won’t be 100% ready. If Maye starts, his contribution will be even more questionable. So, we pick the Bengals here. If you want more NFL picks, just follow the link.
