We can’t wait to see the new Steelers and the new Falcons. Why new? Because they have new quarterbacks. On one side, we have Wilson/Fields, while on the other, Cousins, which indeed gives chills to any NFL fan. By the way you can find more NFL picks here.
Before Betting on Steelers vs. Falcons NFL Week 1
For now, we strongly believe that Russell Wilson will have the edge over Justin Fields in the starting quarterback battle. After all, he is here to give it a go for a season or two and slowly mentor Fields, whose whole career is ahead of him and who, unlike the veteran, has some future.
What needs to be mentioned here is that the Steelers’ offensive coordinator is Arthur Smith. Smith led the Falcons until recently and knows pretty much everything about most of the players on Atlanta’s roster.
Cousins can relax after signing a super-lucrative $180 million four-year deal. He now doesn’t have the pressure like in Minnesota, where he cracked each time in such a situation. The Falcons’ offense is looking talented, with TE Pitts, RB Robinson, WR London and a couple of other youngsters.
However, the defense lost veterans and those who pressured the rivals’ quarterbacks all the time—Bud Dupree and Calais Campbell. Now, that’s something we don’t expect to be covered right away. It’s noticeable that the team’s focus is solely on the offense, but can they keep playing at a high level throughout the entire year?
Steelers vs. Falcons Head to Head
Pittsburgh has four straight wins over the Falcons since 2010. The most recent encounter happened in 2022, when they beat the rivals in Georgia, 19-16.
Steelers vs. Falcons NFL Week 1 Offshore Betting Odds
Team | Moneyline | Spread | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Steelers | +135 | +3 | 40.5 |
Falcons | -155 | -3 | 40.5 |
The Steelers’ defense is one of the best in the league, and even though the Falcons have Cousins, our guess here is that the guests have an edge when it comes to this segment of the game. Also, Smith will guide Pittsburgh’s offense against the average Falcons’ defense, which is another reason we take the Steelers to defend the spread.
