A huge blow struck the Vikings, who lost their rookie quarterback, JJ McCarthy, during the preseason, deeply disturbing Minnesota’s plans. Meanwhile, the Giants seem like a team that doesn’t even have plans, considering the number of poor moves they’ve made in the past.
Before Betting on the Vikings vs. Giants
With JJ McCarthy out for the season, the former Jets first-round pick, Sam Darnold, will become the starting signal caller. And look at the irony as he returns to the stadium where his downfall began – MetLife. He unexpectedly received an opportunity to revive his career alongside arguably the best wide receiver in the league, Justin Jefferson.
Minnesota added plenty of defenders, mainly edges, who will be the backbone of the Vikings’ defensive strategy. The first-round pick, Dallas Turner, combined with Andrew Van Ginkel, can form an excellent duo. Ah, one more thing: RB Aaron Jones came from the Packers. That’s maybe the best under-the-radar move in the division.
As for the Giants, we have nothing good to say apart from their excellent choice in the first round of this year’s draft. WR Malik Nabers was selected from position No.6. Let’s see if he can wake up the sleepy Danny Dimes.
RB Saquon Barkley left, and no matter his shape, he was still a better player than his replacement, Devin Singletary. In the sea of wrong moves, apart from Naber’s draft, there is one more that looks reasonable: Jon Runyan’s signature. The big left guard should add some strength to the shaky offensive line.
Vikings vs. Giants Head to Head
Two seasons ago, these two units met in the NFC Wild Card game, in which the Giants defeated Minnesota in their own house, 31-24. That was New York’s first win against the conference rivals after four consecutive defeats.
