Offshore Oddsmakers aren’t expecting a whole lot of offense on Thursday Night Football, setting the week 17 Jets vs Browns total at just 35 points. That being said, if Joe Flacco continues to play QB like he has for Cleveland the past couple weeks and the New York defense has a meltdown like they did last week against the Commanders this O/U could sail ‘over’ by halftime.

Before Betting on Week 17 Jets vs Browns

Flacco has been a real sparkplug for Cleveland since being signed in week 13. Cleveland had been riding their defense to a potential playoff berth, but now Flacco has the team producing offense as well as the Browns have won three in a row to move to 10-5 and in the current #1 wild card spot in the AFC.

Flacco found chemistry with Amari Cooper last Sunday, as the duo connected 11 times for 265 yards and 2 TDs. Cooper set the franchise record for receiving yards in that game, and now the Browns offense gets to go up against a Jets team that was up 20-0 on Washington before having to rally for a 30-28 victory. Commanders backup Jacoby Brissett hit 10/13 passes in that game, so Thursday should be a good night for Flacco and company.

The Jets almost let one get away last week, but a Greg Zuerlein 54-yard FG with 0:05 left preserved the win. That was the second time in the last three games that the Jets scored 30 points, but they were also shut out 30-0 in Miami in between there. New York probably shouldn’t expect a lot of offense on Thursday considering Cleveland has the top ranked total yardage defense in the NFL.

2023 Week 17 Jets vs Browns Prediction & Pick

This is a revenge game for Flacco, as he spent three seasons with the Jets but didn’t get a call earlier in the year when Aaron Rodgers went down four plays into the season. New York’s hesitancy is Cleveland’s gain, and with the way that offense is playing combined with a very intimidating defense – and a short week – this one should be all Browns.

Pick: Browns -7.5
