As NFL teams prepare for Week 9 of the season, the trade deadline is looming for Nov. 5.

There could be opportunities to take advantage of teams trying to boost their players’ trade value with notable performances.

New England Patriots Tight End Hunter Henry

New England is looking toward the future and by the time they are near contention, 29-year-old tight end Hunter Henry could be approaching the end of his career.

Henry has been targeted 45 times and caught 32 passes in 2024. Quarterback Drake Maye will look for Henry regularly, so he should surpass 5.5 targets.

Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Jakobi Meyers

Jackobi Meyers is an experienced pass catcher who understands a high-pressure atmosphere from playing for Bill Belichick in New England. Las Vegas is going nowhere and a contending team can use Meyers.

He has been targeted 43 times with 31 catches in 2024 despite missing two games.

Carolina Panthers Quarterback Bryce Young

Bryce Young has regained the job as Panthers starting quarterback (for the moment). It did not happen due to merit but because veteran QB Andy Dalton was in an auto accident before Week 8 and Young was pressed into service.

Young performed reasonably well in Carolina’s loss to Denver with 24 completions in 37 attempts for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns.

There have been subtle rumors that the Panthers might choose to move on from Young and trade him. They will almost certainly have the chance to select another quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. What might preclude it is his limited marketability and that they would not get enough in return to make it worthwhile.

Still, they are playing 2-6 New Orleans and Young should post some solid numbers to make him appear more attractive to potential suitors who think he needs a change of scenery and a more stable atmosphere to develop.
