LA Rams vs. Chicago Bears Preview

The LA Rams and the Chicago Bears will close NFL Week 7 with a Monday Night Football matchup. These two sides are not top contenders for winning the Super Bowl title, but are constantly mentioned when talking about the potential surprises. Rams reached the Super Bowl two years ago, while the Bears wasted two years of having a top team, and not making a notable result. This is “do or die” year for Matt Nagy and his boys, and we might say, the same for this Rams’ team. That is what makes this MNF interesting.

  • When: 8:25 pm ET, Monday, October 26
  • Where: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, California
  • How to Watch: ESPN

LA’s Mentality Test

Rams didn’t do well against the San Francisco 49ers, which was a bit of a surprise for all of us. Garoppolo was perfect in the first halftime, hurting the team from LA in all sorts of ways. Now it is time to see whether Sean McVay’s side has enough mental strength to forget that defeat and deliver a good performance.

The most important factor for LA will be their offensive line, that is Jared Goff’s protection, because Chicago has a terrific pass-rush defense. They are arguably the best defense in the league, and so far, we’ve seen them harras all the rivals.

Yet, the Rams also have a nasty defense as well, and believe it or not, they allow fewer points per game than the guests, 19, compared to Bears’ 19.3. Aaron Donald leads the league in sacks, with 7.5, and he will hunt Nick Foles the entire game.

Turning Point for Chicago

This is the match where Bears either become an elite SB contender, or where they stay in the second echelon, among dark horses and possible surprises. Nagy knows that, Foles knows that, the entire team is fired up and focused on winning this matchup. It would be a great step ahead, in a prime time nationally televised game.

We spoke about the Bears’ defense. They are all about beating the opponent and handing the football back to Nick Foles. If the former SB champion raises his standard of play to the 2017 playoffs level, Chicago will become one of the league’s top 3 teams.

At the moment, Foles is mediocre with 6 touchdown passes and four interceptions, which is pretty bad, you need to admit. For him, too, this is a moment for stepping up and proving the worth.

Previous H2H Matches

The Rams won the latest clash, beating the Bears at the Coliseum, 17-7 in one very defensive-minded contest, that saw the majority of the action in the middle of the field, with both sides going back and forth.

Prediction

We analyzed the last year’s game, along with the recent results of both teams, and instead of picking the winner here, betting on Under turned out to be the best possible solution. The limit for the total number of points is 45.5. Having two of the best defenders in the league, Donald on one and Mack on the other side, additionally reassures us that we’ve made the right decision.
