Nigeria and South Africa feature in the first AFCON semis. The Super Eagles are against Bafana Bafana in what promises to be a fight until the last breath, which is the reason why we decided to cover this exciting matchup.

Before Betting on Nigeria vs. South Africa

The Nigerian national team is one of the regulars in the AFCON semis. This will be the 15th time Nigeria has reached this stage, and that’s impressive, but only three titles and eight losses at this stage show that they aren’t comfortable in this position.

The Super Eagles opened the AFCON with a tie against Equatorial Guinea, 1-1, but after that, posted four wins in a row without a goal allowed. Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau, Cameroon, and Angola all fell, with the only game that didn’t end 1-0 being the one against Cameroon, 2-0. Their defense is possibly the best in the whole tournament.

Bafana Bafana also has four clean sheets, but they lost the opening game, 2-0 to Mali. After that, we’ve seen them defeat Namibia, 4-0, and play without goals against Tunisia before beating Morocco in the Round of 16, 2-0, and Cape Verde following the penalties in the quarterfinals.

The biggest strength of this unit is the chemistry because pretty much all the players play for domestic teams and know one another. That’s why Bafana defends this well and presents a tough nut to crack for every team on the continent.

The Nigerians have shown a bit more in offense than their upcoming rivals, but knowing South Africa and their determination, we wouldn’t bet on the Super Eagles’ win. Instead, under 2.5 goals is the primary pick for us because of rock-solid defenses on both ends. The odds won’t be that high, but so will be the risk.
