North Carolina (11-5) is starting to look like the team that made a run to last year’s National Championship Game as they’ve won six of their last seven games. The Tar Heels have dropped from #1 to all the way out of the rankings but a win over #13 Virginia (11-3) could have UNC knocking on the door back into the Top 25. The Cavaliers are just 3-3 over their last six games, and didn’t fare well in two losses to North Carolina last season by a combined 36 points.
Before Betting on North Carolina vs Virginia
North Carolina is starting to come around after a 5-0 start was followed up by a four game losing streak. It’s no surprise that one of the keys behind UNC’s revival has been Armando Bacot, who has 21+ points in five straight and has grabbed 13+ rebounds in three of the last five.
Caleb Love and R.J. Davis are also both adding over 16 ppg for a North Carolina squad that has scored 80+ points in five of their last six. Virginia’s calling card is their defense that allows just 59.6 ppg (15th in the nation) but the Tar Heels are 13th in adjusted offensive efficiency.
Virginia had a top 12 scoring defense last year as well (60.4) but they struggled against the Tar Heels, losing 74-58 in Chapel Hill and then 63-43 in the ACC Tournament. UVA had won seven straight in the series prior, but you get the feeling that angered the Tar Heels a bit.
