- A$AP Rocky rumored to be in talks to buy Tranmere Rovers.
- US rapper latest big name to invest in UK soccer club.
- Who is going to be next?
There has been a sudden influx of high-profile Americans investing in UK-based soccer teams.
Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds famously purchased Wrexham in November 2020, with NFL legend Tom Brady following suit and becoming a minority owner of Birmingham City in November 2023.
And according to the oddsmakers, US-backed investment in European soccer is a trend that will continue.
A$AP Rocky News: US Rapper in Tranmere Rovers Talks
A$AP Rocky has made headlines this week after reports revealed the 36-year-old is in talks to purchase a stake in UK-based soccer club Tranmere Rovers.
Joint club owner Mark Palios hinted the popular US rapper is in line to invest in the League Two side by not-so-cryptically making reference to his stage name when saying he hopes to conclude negotiations “ASAP”.
Should New York-born A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, be successful in his pursuit to become a shareholder in Tranmere Rovers, he will join a growing list of American sports stars and celebrities investing in UK-based soccer clubs.

Speaking to talkSPORT about the recent rise in US-based sports stars and celebrities investing in UK soccer teams, Palios said: “At the moment, if you’re looking at that particular group of people, the US market is very attractive.
“You’ve got the example of Wrexham recently, you’ve got the World Cup coming up there, you’ve got 85 million Americans watch English football.
“There’s actually a gap in the market which just happens to coincide with where we are in terms of development and taking it to the next stage.”
Following these recent claims, US oddsmakers have compiled a list of rappers who could be the next big-name to take their money to the other side of the pond.
Odds on Next US Rapper to Invest in UK Soccer
Fellow New Yorker Jay-Z, whose net worth is a reported $2.5 billion, is the oddsmakers’ joint-favorite, along with Lil Wayne, to be the next US rapper to invest in a UK soccer team.
The likes of Drake, 50 Cent and Ice Cube are also among the other strong candidates to follow in Reynolds and Brady’s footsteps.
