The 2024 Stanley Cup Finals is officially set! The Florida Panthers repeated as Eastern Conference Champions after upsetting the New York Rangers. They came up short against the Golden Knights in the finals last season, forcing them to once again fight for their first-ever NHL title, this time against the Edmonton Oilers.

Before Betting on Oilers vs Panthers

Connor McDavid is widely considered to be the very best player in the NHL. He led the league in scoring in 5 of the last 8 seasons, though he was dethroned by Nikita Kucherov in 2024. McDavid’s phenomenal ability translated into a Stanley Cup appearance for the Oilers, their first since 2006. In order to win their first Stanley Cup Championship since 1990, Edmonton will need not only McDavid, but the entire team to be at their absolute best. Leon Draisaitl’s scoring and passing ability is crucial, acting to make McDavid even more lethal.

Florida returned to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight season. Last year, they stunned the winningest team in NHL history, coming back from down 3-1 to beat the Bruins. Their magical run ended in 5 games against the Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Finals, but set the stage for this season. After creeping in as the last team in the field in 2023, the Panthers were one of the best teams in the East from start to finish this year. The continued excellent play of goaltender Sergei Brobovsky has been crucial.

Despite not featuring the largest market teams, this season’s Stanley Cup Finals should be one for the record books. The Panthers are led by one of the best goalies in the league in Sergei Bobrovsky, aided by an excellent defensive line. They’ll be tested in every way possible by McDavid, Draisaitl, and the Oilers relentless scoring attack. The power play will be crucial for Edmonton to get past Florida’s defense and test Bobrovsky. In Game 1, their defense is likey to be overwhelmed by the Panthers, making it tough to keep up.
