Edmonton and Dallas were the two hottest teams in the NHL in the second half of the year, and now they head to battle in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals to see who can punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Stars won two of the three head-to-head meetings during the regular season, but it’s also hard to go against the star-studded Oilers squad. This series seems destined for 7 games.

Before Betting on Oilers vs Stars Game 1

One good thing going for the Stars is that they’re used to playing offensive superstars after eliminating Nathan Mackinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and the Avalanche in 6 games in the Western Conference Semifinals. Dallas won all three games in Colorado in that series after going 2-1 in Las Vegas against the defending Stanley Cup champion Golden Knights in the first round.

Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger was masterful against Colorado, holding the league’s #1 scoring offense (3.7 goals/game) to a single goal in three of the last four games.

Oettinger was great – at times – versus the Avalanche. For his three games when he allowed 1 goal each he also had three contests where he gave up a total of 12 scores which has to have Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl hoping to get that version of the Dallas goaltender. The Oilers aren’t scoring a ton this postseason for the NHL’s #4 offense, but their talent is noticeable.

Oilers vs Stars Game 1 Prediction & Pick

Edmonton goaltender Stuart Skinner hasn’t faced more than 20 shots in his last four games, so he’s going to get a rude awakening against a Dallas team that pelts you with 31.6 SOG during the regular season. Oettinger has already dispelled Vegas and Colorado while Edmonton had a relative smooth path in beating the Kings and Canucks. This looks like a huge Stars victory.

Pick: Stars -1.5
