The Dallas Stars were 26-11-4 at home during the regular season but playing at the American Airlines Center has been a curse in the playoffs. Dallas has gone just 3-5 on their own ice this postseason including Thursday night’s 5-3 loss to the Oilers in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Edmonton looks like a team poised to make their first trip to the Stanley Cup Finals since 2006 as they have rattled off three straight wins.

Before Betting on Oilers vs Stars Game 2

While the Stars have lost home ice advantage after the Game 1 defeat, they also dropped the series opener at home to both Vegas and Colorado this postseason and ended up winning both of those. Game 1 went into double OT as well, and maybe we’re singing a different tune if Jason Robertson’s shot in the 1st overtime didn’t clang off the post.

The big names shined for Edmonton in Game 1, with Connor McDavid scoring the game winner in the double OT, Zach Hyman adding a goal and an assist, and Leon Draisaitl adding a goal as he’s scored a point in every game this postseason.

One major concern for Dallas is that goaltender Jake Oettinger continues to struggle at home in these playoffs. He surrendered just one goal in each of the three games at Colorado in the semifinals, but gave up 12 in the three home games. Meanwhile Edmonton netminder Stuart Skinner stopped 31 of 33 shots in hostile territory in Game 1.

Oilers vs Stars Game 2 Prediction & Pick

The teams felt each other out in Game 1 and it resulted in a double overtime contest. Game 2 could really go either way because Dallas has been so bad at home, but it also wouldn’t be a shocker at all if the Stars even this contest up. With the way Oettinger has played in net on his own ice, there’s little value on the Stars at their price.
