The good news for either Oklahoma State (16-11) or West Virginia (15-12) is that a losing streak will come to an end when the two schools meet up in Morgantown on Monday night. Of course the flip side of that is the loser continues to denigrate their tournament resume, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to call this contest a must-win for both teams. Oklahoma State has had two main issues recently, first off their defense which just gave up 100 points in a loss to TCU on Saturday (100-75) following their 87-76 loss to Kansas last week. West Virginia is the 5th highest scoring team in the Big 12
Both TCU and Kansas are top 25 teams so those losses can be forgiven a bit for Oklahoma State, plus OSU had won 7 of 8 prior to the two defeats. The other quandary still facing the Cowboys though is that they remain without Avery Anderson III, the experienced senior who is sidelined with a wrist injury. Oklahoma State is 3-2 since Anderson III went down on February 1st.
West Virginia’s up and down season continues as they’ve now dropped three in a row heading into Monday night’s contest. The Mountaineers had won four of five prior after starting off Big 12 play 0-5, which included a 67-60 loss at Oklahoma State on January 2nd. WVU is hoping their 11-4 mark at home compared to Oklahoma State being 4-6 on the road gives them an edge in this matchup.
