Gervonta Davis will contribute to Team USA’s success in the boxing ring this summer at the Paris Olympics. The lightweight has been given the green light to travel outside of the United States to speak to aspiring boxers chasing Olympic glory in France.

Gervonta Davis To Travel To Paris For Olympics

The USA team invited Davis to speak to aspiring boxers ahead of the Paris Olympics by officials, as many within the camp believed that the lightweight could inspire the team that are fighting for gold medals this summer. Plans have been fast-tracked for the world champion to play his role for the team after he was given the green light to travel to Europe, despite still being on probation for his 2020 conviction for hit-and-run.

Davis had previously spent 44 days behind bars in the summer of 2023 after he violated the terms of his sentence after missing out on jail time. The lightweight pled guilty to a November 2020 hit-and-run, which injured four people.

After the violation of his terms, he was ordered to spend the remainder of his 90-day sentence in jail. However, the same judge that reprimanded him 12 months ago gave him the green light to travel with Team USA for the Paris Olympics.

Matt Johnson, who serves as the High-Performance Director for the Olympic team, spoke in Davis’ defense, stating that due to his standing among the best boxers on the planet, he could be a prized asset to help motivate and support the team to achieve their goals.

Following the approval, Davis will travel to France on July 19, and will remain with the boxing camp until August 12.
