The Women’s High Jump event was added to the Olympics schedule in 1928, with Ethel Catherwood crowned the first gold medal champion. Since then, a number of nationalities have claimed success in the High Jump, including most recently Mariya Lasitskene.
However, it is the bronze medallist from Tokyo that currently heads the betting, as Yaroslava Mahuchij is preferred to win a famous gold medal for Ukraine. The 22-year-old was excellent on her debut showing at the Games in 2021, and she has progressed effortlessly since then, winning gold at the World Championships in 2023.
Mahuchij is hard to oppose in the betting, with Nicola Olyslagers being her main competition. The Australia was the runner-up at the 2020 Olympics, and has followed that success up with a third at last year’s World Championships. However, the Ukraine high jumper is preferred in Paris.

The Men’s High Jump at the Olympics is one of the most prestigious events in the sport. It was first contested in the first edition of the Games in 1896, with Ellery Clark winning the first gold. There was a famous finish to the event in 2020, with Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Essa Barshim sharing the gold medal.
Tamberi’s form has remained strong since that gold medal success, winning the 2021 and 2022 Diamond League crowns in the event. He was also the winner of the European Outdoor Championships earlier this year, adding to the World Championship success that he achieved in 2023.
