One of four jumping events in the track and field at the Olympics will come in the form of the Pole Vault. This event has been staged at the multi-sport event since 1896, and it promises to be one of the standout events once again this year. The Men’s Pole Vault has been a regular event that has been staged at the Olympics since the inaugural staging of the Games. It was first contested in 1896, with the first Olympic champion being William Hoyt. However, only Bob Richards has won the men’s Olympic title on multiple occasions.

That record appears to be under intense pressure this year, as Armand Duplantis is seen by many as the banker of the Games in terms of a gold medal winner. The Swedish superstar is regarded by many as the world’s best ever Pole Vaulter, and he comes into the competition this year as the defending champion.

The Swedish star holds the indoor and outdoor records in the event, and is a two-time World Championship winner in the event. In fact, it may present better value when betting on the event to side with the Swede breaking the long-standing Olympic record in the Pole Vault this summer, as defeat appears out of the question.

Sam Kendricks could be the best value to challenge for the medals this year. The American was the bronze medal winner in 2016, and was the world champion in the event in 2017 and 2019. However, he could only finish as the runner-up in the World Indoor Championships earlier this season, and he could be good value to repeat that result in 2024.
