The Men’s Triple Crown event has been staged at the Olympics since the first edition of the Games in 1896. The men’s record at the Olympics was set in 1996 by Kenny Harrison, while the world record has been broken in the event on four previous occasions.
Pedro Pichardo is the reigning Olympic champion coming into the Games in Paris this summer. The Portuguese star was a World Junior Champion in 2012, and continued his progression to win silver at the World Championships in the following year. Pichardo is currently the top-ranked athlete in the event.
However, Jaydon Hibbert could be the eye-catching star in the event this summer, as the 19-year-old already holds national records in his home country of Jamaica. He was the gold medal winner in the Triple Jump at the U20 World Championships in 2022, and his progression looks set to continue this summer.

The Women’s edition of the Triple Jump was added to the Olympic schedule for the first time in 1996. At that time, it was the third jumping event added to the program for female athletes following the long jump and high jump. The current women’s record is held by Yulimar Rojas, who is also the reigning Olympic champion.
Leyanis Perez looks set to have solid claims for the gold medal this summer. The 22-year-old was the gold medal winner at the Pan American Games in 2023, and was the bronze medal winner at the World Championships in Budapest. However, her progressive profile means that there is more to come from the Cuban athlete.
However, Shanieka Ricketts could have more interesting claims at the prices. The Jamaican won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, and has twice finished as the runner-up at the World Championships during her professional career.
