The track events always catch the attention at the Olympic Games, and that will be no different in Paris this summer. The Women’s 100m Hurdles looks set to be one of the most interesting events to be staged in France, but, which star will be crowned winner of the event in 2024?

Before Betting On Olympics Women’s 100m Hurdles Winner

The Women’s 100m Hurdles has been staged at the Olympics since 1932, but the inaugural event was staged over an 80m distance, before being increased at the 1972 Games. A total of ten hurdles standing at 33 inches tall will be jumped during the race, with the hurdles set up so they will fall over if an athlete accidentally knocks into one.

The fastest ever time in the event was set by Tobi Amusan in 2022 at the World Championships, as she finished in a time of 12.12. Meanwhile, the Olympic record was set at the previous Games in Tokyo by Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who finished the race in a quick time of 12.26.

However, it is Cyrena Samba-Mayela that heads the betting for the event at the Olympics this summer. The French star will have the hopes of the host nation on her shoulders this year, and she holds the national record time in the event. Her form is rock solid after winning the gold medal in the event at the recent European Championships in Rome.

Camacho-Quinn will also be hard to overlook, as she is the top-ranked athlete in the event and the reigning Olympic record holder. However, she could only finish second at the World Championships last summer in the event. Danielle Williams was a slight shock winner of that event, with American star Kendra Harrison finishing back in third.

Samba-Mayela has been one of the poster girls for the host nation in the lead-up to the Olympics this summer, and how she deals with that pressure will be key. However, we could see her win the gold medal for France in the women’s 100m hurdles.
