Before Betting On Olympics Women’s Volleyball
Volleyball has been competed on the Olympic women’s program since 1964, with the competition set to be a typically wide-open affair once again in Paris this summer. The Soviet Union won three of the first five events in the women’s game, before Cuba dominated between 1992 and 2000. China and Brazil have both won two golds apiece since the 2004 Olympics.
The USA should have very strong claims of winning a second gold in women’s volleyball this summer, as they come into the event as the defending champions. They have also won two silvers and a bronze since the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. However, success for the American team on the global stage has dried up in recent years, finishing fourth in the World Championships in 2022 and seventh in the Nations League earlier this year.
The Nations League could be the most important form line to follow this summer when betting on the women’s volleyball. Italy landed a second victory in the event earlier this year, beating Japan 3-1 in the final. However, the Italians have never got further than the quarterfinal stage at the Olympics.
Turkey could be considered to be one of the fastest growing nations in the world in terms of women’s volleyball. The team won the gold at the European Championships last summer, and were also winners of the Nations League in 2023. They certainly look good value to improve on their showing at the previous Olympics, which saw them finish fifth after winning three of their six matches.
