Oregon Ducks Moving Up

Oregon is 6-0 overall, and the offense has scored at least 31 points in 5 straight games. The Ducks have faced some average teams and were tested against two ranked opponents, winning both games by 3 points or fewer. The defense struggled against those ranked teams, but against unranked teams, they have allowed under 14 points per game.

Last week, Oregon faced their toughest challenge of the season against #4 Ohio State. It was a back-and-forth game that the Ducks managed to win 32-31. Oregon needed to score 10 points in the 4th quarter to secure the victory and take over the #2 ranking. The Ducks recorded 7.6 YPP and didn’t turn the ball over. Oregon maintained their 30-point streak against one of the top teams in CFB, and should maintain that against Purdue.

Purdue Looking to Build Success

Purdue has lost 5 games in a row and is 1-2 at home. In four of those games, the Boilermakers lost by double digits or were badly blown out. In three of those games, the offense scored 10 points or less. Purdue is 0-2 against ranked opponents but recently managed to have an extremely close overtime game against #22 Illinois.

The Boilermakers just lost to Illinois, 50-49. It looked like another ugly loss for Purdue as they were down 24-3 at halftime, but they managed to score 40 points in the 2nd half to force overtime. Purdue didn’t turn the ball over, recorded 9.2 YPP, and rushed for 239 yards. For the first time in a while, the Boilermakers showed some fight and potential on offense. They’ll aim to build on that this week.

Oregon vs Purdue Prediction

Most of Oregon’s wins against unranked teams have been by 21 to 35 points, and those games were against average to below-average opponents. Purdue did show some life in their game against a low-ranked team, but they were blown out by #12 Notre Dame earlier in the season, losing 66-7 at home. The Ducks will likely get their offense going early and score 45+ points in this game. We see the Ducks winning 48-14.
