Before Betting on Orioles vs Rays July 15
The offshore odds still have the Baltimore Orioles as underdogs on Friday night even though they go for an 11th straight victory. Then again that shouldn’t be a huge surprise considering they’ve been underdogs in half of their 10 wins during the current streak.
The Tampa Bay Rays will try to play the spoiler and end Baltimore’s longest win streak since 1999. The Rays are playing good baseball too, finishing up a four game sweep at home against the Red Sox. The Orioles got swept at Tropicana Field in the opening series of the year, but have since won four of six between the two teams back in Baltimore.
What’s wild about Baltimore’s run is that nobody is really putting up crazy offensive numbers, as Ryan McKenna and Ramon Urias are the only two players hitting above .300 for the streak. It’s just been a solid team effort at the plate as the Orioles have averaged over 5 runs/game in the 10 wins. Tampa Bay’s offense is clicking too though, scoring 22 runs in the four games against Boston.
The Orioles vs Rays July 15 pitching matchup is Tyler Wells (7-4, 3.28 ERA) against Luis Patino (0-1, 13.50 ERA). Patino is a top prospect acquired in the Blake Snell trade, but he also hasn’t pitched since April 11th after suffering an oblique strain in his first start of the season. Wells has allowed 1 ER or less in 4 of his last 5 starts.

Patino is only going to throw 1-2 innings for the Rays in his first start back, but Tampa Bay is also used to using an opener pitcher. The Orioles run isn’t going to last forever, but they also seem to have the pitching advantage as well as some magic. The O’s have cashed out 5X as underdogs on their current win streak, why not 6?
