Before Betting on Padres vs Dodgers July 1
The top two teams in the NL West will continue to do battle on Friday night as their four game weekend series presses on. The Los Angeles Dodgers were able to get a 3-1 win over the visiting San Diego Padres in the opener, pushing L.A’s lead up to 2.5 games in the division.
With Thursday’s win the Dodgers are now 3-1 vs. San Diego this season. Manny Machado returned from a 9 game absence and went 1-4 for the Padres, striking out three times though. The star of the opener was Justin Turner, who hit two HRs and accounted for all three L.A. runs.
The Padres took the loss in a Joe Musgrove start for the second straight time after they had been unbeaten in his first 12 outings of the season. Blake Snell (0-5, 5.60 ERA) will try to be the stopper for San Diego on Friday night while also trying to pick up his first win of the season. Snell has allowed 4ER in three of his last four starts though, and the Padres have lost in all 7 of his starts this season.
Tony Gonsolin (9-0, 1.58 ERA) goes for the home team in the Padres vs Dodgers July 1 matchup. The right-hander is a somewhat under-the-radar Cy Young contender who hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER in any of his 14 starts this year.

Gonsolin being on the hill definitely gives the Dodgers value on the offshore odds for Friday night’s matchup, especially with Snell struggling for San Diego. If L.A. can get some offense from somebody besides Turner they should be able to score 6-7 runs which is more than enough for Gonsolin and the run line win with the best price being at Bovada (+130).
