The Chicago Bears (4-4) host the New England Patriots (2-7) as 6-point favorites. Our Patriots vs Bears prediction is for underdog New England to cover the point spread.
New England’s record head-to-head is 10-5. The teams met in Super Bowl XX. That historic Bears team, led by Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, and Refrigerator Perry, blew out the Patriots 46-10.

New England Showing Signs of Life
Not long ago, rampant speculation had the Patriots firing head coach Jerod Mayo before he’d completed half a season. Since then, New England staged a last-minute comeback to beat their hated rival the New York Jets, and lost a seesaw overtime battle with Tennessee.
Notably, rookie quarterback Drake Maye is getting rave reviews for his rapid improvement. Against Tennessee, he completed 29 of 41 passes. His 5-yard TD pass to Rhamondre Stevenson on the last play or regulation sent the game to overtime.
New England is in the bottom third of the NFL in every team-centric category. Still, there are solid pieces in place. Their competitive play, particularly from Maye, bodes well for the future.
Chicago’s Schedule Is a Gauntlet After New England
The Bears have lost two straight to fall to 4-4. They are in last place in the hellish NFC North but still have a chance to make the playoffs.
Arizona dominated Chicago in Week 9 winning 29-9. Former first overall draft pick, quarterback Caleb Williams, had a tough day going 22 for 41 with no TDs. He was sacked six times by the Cardinals’ defense.
The Bears’ offense is inconsistent, averaging 21.5 points per game, notwithstanding Williams’ flashes of brilliance.
Pass defense is the one area where they have been solid, ranked eighth in the league.
If the Bears are to make the playoffs, this game is an absolute must-win. Their next six games are against, in order:
- Green Bay at home
- Minnesota at home
- at Detroit
- at San Francisco
- at Minnesota
- Detroit
After that, they play a home game against Seattle, who might be fighting for a playoff spot. And finally, they go to Green Bay.
Patriots vs Bears Prediction: Expect a Close Game and a Chicago Win
The odds of Chicago emerging from that nightmarish schedule and finishing with a .500 or better record — let alone a playoff spot — are long.
But first things first. They have a vulnerable opponent as they host New England. Expect the Bears to win. But the game will be close with the Patriots covering the 6-point spread.
