When we last saw the Bills (12-3) they were praying for a teammate’s life after safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest in the Monday night game against the Bengals. That game in Cincinnati was obviously cancelled, but in the process the Bills will fall a game short of the #1 seed in the AFC which Kansas City wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.
There’s great news that Hamlin is on the mend, but you have to wonder how the emotional week will wear on Bills players and coaches. The Patriots (8-8) don’t want to sound insincere, but they are out to win this game as a victory clinches a playoff spot. New England could also get to the postseason with losses from the Dolphins and Steelers, but it’s always better to dictate your own destiny rather than relying on help.
Before Betting on Patriots vs Bills
The focus is really on New England in this game, as who knows what the mindset of the Bills will be following such a roller coaster week. Can the Patriots do enough to win this game? Bill Belichick’s squad squeaked out a 23-22 win over the free-falling Dolphins last week, but had fell in close games to the Bengals and Raiders the two weeks prior.
New England does do a good job of keeping games close, so maybe the +9 points at BetUS is way too high. Four of the Patriots’ last six losses have come by one score, but the only problem with that is one of those was a 24-10 loss to the Bills in week 13 when New England had just 242 yards of total offense.
