Two teams with very different starts to the 2022/23 campaign meet up on Wednesday at the Crypto.com Arena. The Pelicans have been a nice surprise at 4-2 despite playing just two games at home so far this year. The Lakers (1-5) couldn’t win home or away as they started the year with five straight defeats but they are coming off a 121-110 victory over Denver last Sunday.

The big question ahead of Wednesday night’s meeting in Los Angeles is if the Lakers can put together a win streak following their first victory of the season and first under new head coach Darvin Ham. Russell Westbrook has gone to the bench and had his best game of the season in the win over the Nuggets with 18/8/8.
Lebron James had 26 points in Sunday’s win and Anthony Davis added 23 points and 15 rebounds. Both players are on the injury report for the meeting with the Pelicans but will likely play with the Lakers coming in following two nights off.
The Pelicans have lost two games this season, at Phoenix and in a tough OT defeat to Utah at home. New Orleans got back into the winner’s column on Sunday with a 112-91 win over the Clippers. Like the Lakers they’ve also had two nights off and haven’t had to travel after playing in L.A. on Sunday. The extra rest should have Zion Williamson feeling at full strength after a nasty fall last week., but Brandon Ingram doesn’t look likely to return from his concussion.

Pelicans vs Lakers Prediction & Pick
Los Angeles looked like a much different team last time out with Westbrook adjusting to his role as a bench player and with James and Davis clicking. It’s hard to tell if that will continue moving forward, but it really wouldn’t be a shocker if L.A. pulled out this win outright as they are hungry for a winning streak.
