The competitive horse racing action in the U.S. continues this weekend following a dramatic edition of the Preakness Stakes. The feature on the card at Aqueduct on Saturday comes in the form of the G2 Pennine Ridge Stakes.

Before Betting On Pennine Ridge Stakes

A quiet weekend of graded stakes action in the U.S. will be headlined by the Pennine Ridge Stakes at Aqueduct. It will be run at the track this year due to renovation work at Belmont Park, but it will still serve as a key trial for the Belmont Derby in July. The field of seven this weekend will run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles.

Todd Pletcher has won two of the previous three editions of this race, and he teams up with Irad Ortiz this weekend with Triple Espresso. This three-year-old was last seen on the all-weather at Turfway Park when finishing fourth in the G3 Jeff Ruby Steaks. That form has worked out well, and he could have a very solid chance if reverting that run back to turf.

Cable Read could be an overlooked contender in the betting this weekend for trainer Linda Dixon. The three-year-old has course experience after winning an allowance contest on his previous start, setting a mighty speed figure of 91 in the process. A repeat effort firmly puts him in the mix on Saturday.

Chad Brown’s runners are flying at present, meaning that Risk Tolerance could hold strong claims this weekend. The three-year-old was very impressive when breaking his maiden at Aqueduct last month, while stablemate White Palomino was also a winner on his last start at Keeneland.

Legend of Time looks set to take the beating this weekend for the Charlie Appleby team. The three-year-old has won four from six starts, which included a trio of victories in the Middle East at the start of the year. Likely needed his first start in the U.S. last month when fifth in the G2 American Turf Stakes.
